Taken from a post on the HPH forums:

The President Of The LSD Golf Club

Release: 08/10

Album-info: Ten years Hooverphonic and the seventh studio album. An album with an especially intriguing title: ‘The President of the LSD Golf Club’. And has Hooverphonic come up with a psychedelic album? From the hypnotic opener ‘Stranger’ to the mystifying closing track, ‘Bohemian Laughter’, the answer is a definite yes.
‘The President of The LSD Golf Club’ pays homage to Alex Callier’s musical roots: retro-psychedelic, which is apparent in the way the album was recorded – you can practically smell the vintage…
Using the rough demos Alex had put down at home, the band, comprising six musicians, spent a week in rehearsals. In August 2006 they ensconced themselves in the La Chapelle Studios, deep in the heart of the Ardennes in Belgium. Under the auspices of veteran producer Mike Butcher, they recorded the album in just eleven days. Everything was played live. Not a ‘cut’ or a ‘paste’ in sight. Not only have the band recorded the album on their own label, this is also the first Hooverphonic album where the sound, the essence to quote Alex, literally came into being in the studio.
This is without doubt the most daring and experimental Hooverphonic album ever.

1. Stranger
2. 50 Watt
3. Expedition Impossible
4. Circles
5. Gentle Storm
6. The Eclipse Song
7. Billie
8. Black Marble Files
9. Stricly Out of Phase
10. Bohemian Laughter

zigmund_afraid: HPH in Moscow on 23/03/07

I had a small talk with Raymond on 23 of March and he said that HPH didn't sign to any labels yet (though wikipedia says thay had a new contract with EMI or something...). But still they plan to release the new album this autumn.
All the videos from that gig in Moscow are here:
same flv's in one pack for download:
And i dunno if i can do it (kick me if i have no rights for such things) but since i have it with me just wanted to share with u if u're interested :))))) My own cut of Visions track (once i needed a shorter version but i had no Radio Edit by that time...). It lies HERE! Well... In this shape it's not commercially available and the quality is not perfect so i guess it's not a big deal if i post it :))))

Anyone notice that the drums right at the beginning of "You Love Me To Death" (on disc 1) are swiped from "Sarangi"?

Hi. :o

This is my first post. Erm, my name's Maria, I'm 18 and I'm a huge fan of the band. I just got the albums "Blue Wonder Power Milk" and "The Magnificent Tree" yesterday and I love them! I'm a writer and I'm trying to write a screenplay based on the story behind the album Jackie Cane but not getting very far. And don't worry--I don't intend to sell it, it's just for fun, so no legal battles there.

Anyway, I got bored and made a bunch of HPH icons that I thought I would share. I used brushes by Miss M and teh_indy, so credit where credit is due. Most of these icons are Jackie Cane-centric, but there are a couple silly ones too.

If you take them, please put them on your own web server and please credit me. Thanks!

Eighteen Hooverphonic iconsCollapse )

Enjoy, and please credit. :D
